The Mid-Range Build: A White-on-White PC That Still Has Teeth

This is the second entry in Budget Picks’ complete-build format, one step up from the budget tier: a full ATX board, an 8-core CPU, and a current-generation graphics card instead of a value pick. Every part below was checked against its own official specs and against the others in this list, not assumed compatible because the individual pieces are all reputable brands.

Why these parts fit together

The CPU and motherboard share the AM5 socket, and ASUS lists Ryzen 9000 series support on the board directly rather than behind a BIOS update. The board lists AMD EXPO memory support, which is the profile type the RAM kit here carries. The graphics card measures 304mm end to end against a case rated for 410mm, and the air cooler stands 154mm against the case’s 170mm limit, so neither one is a near miss. The case takes a full ATX board and a standard ATX power supply without modification. NVIDIA puts the card at 250W board power with a 650W minimum system supply, and ASUS lists 750W for a fully overclocked configuration of this exact card, so the 750W Gold unit here meets the higher of the two figures rather than the lower one.

Where the money actually goes

The graphics card is most of this build’s budget, and that’s deliberate: a mid-range tier that skimped on the GPU to spend more on the case or the storage would end up looking better than it performs. The rest of the parts list is built to support that card properly rather than bottleneck it, an 8-core CPU with plenty of headroom, fast Gen4 storage, and a power supply with real margin instead of one sized to the exact minimum.

Getting the white-on-white look without extra spending

Every visible part in this list ships white by default: the case, the motherboard’s PCB, the CPU cooler, the RAM heat spreaders, and the graphics card shroud. That means there’s no separate white-parts tax the way there sometimes is with themed builds, buying the specific white version of each part costs about the same as buying the standard black one. The RGB on the case fan and the cooler can be switched off entirely if you want the look fully quiet, or left on low white to match rather than turned into a rainbow.

What this build is, and isn’t

This is a compatibility-checked parts list, not a benchmarked one. Every socket, memory speed ceiling, clearance figure, and wattage number above comes from the parts’ own official specs and listings, cross-checked against each other, not from assembling and running the system ourselves.

Note: three parts have been replaced since this build first went up. The CPU had gone to backorder, and the motherboard and graphics card no longer had any new-condition offer at all, only single used units. Their replacements are all new in box and were compatibility-checked against the rest of the list from scratch. Memory and graphics card pricing remain well above older reference numbers industry-wide.
